Space is the emptiness that fills most of the universe, which is in turn filled with stuff few and far between. Because space has no atmosphere and is near a temperature of absolute zero, very few beings can survive in it without protection of some sort. However, if you take a deep breath of air before entering it, you can survive for about thirty seconds. Another effect of this lack of atmosphere is that no one can hear you scream.
